SINTER 2024: A week of innovation and creativity in jewelry from metal clay
From 15 to 21 May 2024, SINTER event brings together renowned instructors and artists in Bradford, UK metal clay from everywhere. The rich program includes workshops, presentations, as well as the exhibition Superbly Sintered 2024: Masterful Designs in Metal Clay. A first SINTER event took place in 2022 and was very successful among the participants.
Innovative workshops and masterclasses with experts

Revolutionary techniques for working with metal clay can be learned during the four days reserved for workshops held by 12 instructors metal clay consecrated. Without a doubt, one of the most interesting and requested workshops is the one held by Corina Gheorghe. The workshop presented by Corina at SINTER 2024 is aimed at artists who want to get familiar with the plique-à-jour technique, one of the most spectacular enameling methods. Participants will learn how to apply clear enamel to cut-out metal spaces. Thanks to the light that passes through the enamel, creating spectacular visual effects, the jewelry made in this technique resembles stained glass.
Engaging presentations and diversity in techniques
Another three days of the SINTER event will be dedicated to the 20 presentations of different techniques and methods of working with metal clay, as well as the marketing strategies needed by an artist metal clay for it to be successful. Lovers of unconventional approaches in working with metal clay they will be able to watch Corina Gheorghe's presentation about reticulation, a novel technique, with the help of which surfaces with a prominent texture can be created: creases, wrinkles, undulations/waves. Derived from traditional jewelry, this method of surface manipulation can also be used in working with metal clay. The basis of this technique, which guarantees spectacular effects, is the fire treatment of an alloy composed of silver and copper. The result will be an irregular, organic looking surface.

As two years ago, another highlight of the event is the exhibition Superbly Sintered 2024, where attendees can admire impressive works that illustrate the artists' craftsmanship. This exhibition not only reflects the talent and creativity of the participating artists, but also provides a window into new artistic possibilities in metal clay.

About Corina Gheorghe: pioneering and education in metal clay

Corina Gheorghe discovered her passion for metal clay in 2012 and studied and honed countless techniques for working with this material, quickly becoming a remarkable force in the field. She developed her own style, being the author of some innovative techniques, such as Hidden Treasure – Silver Frosting Flowers, which starts from the cake decorating method and offers the possibility to create various miniature silver flowers. Corina taught courses in metal clay at You Can Make It in the UK in 2020, and her written and filmed tutorials can be found on AMCAW and Craftcast. A first video tutorial can be watched on the website ARTKIMIA. She is the founder and director ARTKIMIA – Art & Jewelry Studio, the authorized distributor metal clay in Romania. As a senior metal clay instructor teaches classes metal clay within the jewelry school ARTKIMIA. Corina is concerned with approaching the newest working techniques metal clay, along with the work methods typical of classic jewellery. Enameling courses are also part of her portfolio.
