Prometheus® Troy Bronze Clay it is a bronze clay that becomes a beautiful reddish bronze when fired in a jewelry kiln (this type of clay cannot be fired with the burner). It is a mixture of bronze powder of microscopic dimensions, water and an organic binder. It can be shaped by hand, rolled into flat surfaces or even braided like a rope. It can be used with molds, textured or even modeled on the potter's wheel. Prometheus® Troy Bronze Clay can be burned together with most semi-precious stones created in the laboratory (cubic zirconia), pre-tested natural semi-precious stones, glass beads, ceramic or porcelain.

When the clay is burned in the furnace, the organic binder evaporates / burns and what remains is pure, solid bronze. After burning, if necessary, put it in a pickling solution to remove any residues left after oxidation and finish.

Burning instructions

Burning for Prometheus® Troy Bronze bronze clay is done in 2 stages.

1. Place the dry part (or parts) on a stainless steel mesh and put it in the cold oven, then raise the temperature to 500 ° C or place it on the stove flame. Let it burn for 15 minutes, then place it on a fireproof surface and let it cool.

2. Place about 3 cm of activated carbon on the bottom of a steel container. Place the pieces at least 1,5 cm apart and fill the container with activated charcoal, cover the container and place in the preheated oven at 850 ° C. Allow the oven to reach the desired temperature and burn for 90 minutes. When the burning is finished, leave the container to cool or carefully remove and place on a fireproof surface until the parts cool enough to be removed.
