Artkimia – Cloisonne enameling base kit
Artkimia – Cloisonné Basic Kit is the kit used in the course Cloisonne enameling – Vibrant colors in jewelry and contains all the basic tools you need to apply the Cloisonné enamelling technique.
Enameling is a great way to add color to your jewelry. Our basic kit includes everything from enamels to finishing tools. This kit has all the basic tools you will need to create enamel jewelry, in the Cloisonne technique. Cloisonné Basic Kit Artkimia allows you to save money and time in a single easy purchase and chosen by our instructors.
The enamels selected for this kit are Japanese enamels, recognized for their transparency, brilliance and vibrant colors. These enamels fuse at temperatures between 760 – 800 °C and are perfect for most enameling techniques, including Plique-a-Jour. The Cloisonné wire included in the kit has a size that lends itself to both small and large jewelry creation. The included Klyr wire adhesive is professional, leaves no traces and does not affect the clarity of the enamel after firing. Our recommendation is to use it in a ratio of 1 to 4 (one part adhesive to 4 parts distilled water). The anti-oxidation protection solution is ideal for application on copper, to inhibit oxidation during burning. It is used for the first firing where the counter-enamel is applied on one side and the solution is applied on the other and left to dry. After burning, it comes off very easily. Abrasive stone with aluminum oxide (alundum) is the most suitable for removing the enamel from the edges of the part. It is used only under the water jet. It is not recommended to be used on the surface of the enamel, for this you will use the Diagrit diamond sheet. And this is only used under the water jet.
The enamel is applied in several layers and it is good to make sure that they are clean, without grease or oxides. The role of the fiberglass brush is to clean the surface of the enamel very well before application. It is recommended to use under running water. We also recommend wearing gloves when using it. Powder sieves will help you powder the base coat and the counter-enamel. These sites are of various sizes adaptable to any size of the piece. Sieves can also be used for other enamelling techniques. The combustion supports are made of stainless steel and their role is to keep the piece straight in the oven without touching the enamelled areas. We recommend cleaning them between burns, to avoid oxide contamination of the enamel during burning. They are cleaned by rubbing them with a file and / or an old brush, after which they are washed and dried. Included in the kit are 6 (pure) copper blanks perfect for creating your first jewelry in the Cloisonné technique.
