Sunshine colors were designed in collaboration with professional enamel painters. Sunshine brand glass/enamel and ceramic painting pigments are colors recommended for overglaze painting, i.e. over the glaze/enamel. These overglaze colors are colors that become glossy after firing and do not require the application of coverage flow as the colors require underglaze.
Sunshine colors can be mixed with water-based, solvent or oil-based mediums (paraffin, lavender) for a greater tonal range. The mixture is recommended to be able to paint using brushes, on the enameled surface. All colors except mandarin yellow, ochre, poppy red and cardinal red, which contain cadmium, are completely intermixable. They are applied on opaque bases producing bright and clear colors when fired. They can only be mixed with each other, but mixtures with up to 5% Green, Blue, Black or flow (of mixture) they are according to the tests, possible and without problems. However, over-burning or applying too thin layers can lead to unwanted reactions in the final color.
Iron red is compatible with all other colors and can only be mixed if its percentage in the mixture is greater than 50%.
To obtain pastel shades or similar to the skin tone, mixtures can be made with polar white, Orange, cardinal red and poppy red.
To open up the colors, we recommend using flux which can also be used as a covering flux, but not for color Iron red.
It is recommended to test color mixtures before using them in the project.
