Kaolin – Versatile raw material for top industrial applications

Kaolin (also known as China clay) is a natural aluminum silicate, white or slightly yellowish in color, with a fine lamellar structure and exceptional chemical and physical properties. It is an essential material in many industries due to its high purity, low level of impurities and excellent thermal stability.

Main applications:

• Ceramics and porcelain industry – Kaolin is used as a basic component in the manufacture of earthenware, stoneware, ceramic tiles, decorative vessels and sanitary ware. It ensures plasticity, ease of shaping and a clean, white finish after firing.
• Paper and cardboard – Kaolin is a highly effective filler and coating agent that improves the gloss, opacity and printability of paper. It is widely used in the production of newsprint, coated paper, packaging and high-quality board.
• Rubber and plastics industry – Kaolin acts as a hardening and stabilizing agent, increasing the mechanical and thermal resistance of rubber products (tires, gaskets, hoses, etc.).
• Cosmetics and pharmaceuticals – Due to its fine texture and absorbent properties, kaolin is used in face masks, powders, and dermatological products. It is gentle on the skin and helps regulate sebum.
• Paints and varnishes – It is used as an extender (filling agent) to improve the consistency, durability and adhesion of paint, without compromising color or quality.
• Agriculture – In some cases, it is used as an inert agent in plant protection products, to reflect excessive sunlight, or as a carrier for pesticides and fertilizers.
